Thank you all, this is my first post but there are some great answers on this site so I hope you can help. My 14 year old son was booked on Swiss to fly from Nice, France to Valencia Spain this Christmas, there is no direct flight so he had to change at Zurich ( or another main European major hub – I choose Zurich ), he could not go as an unaccompanied as the airlines seem to have a strange policy regarding the 12 to16 year olds here in Europe. It took 57 hours for him to get to Spain! The weather was bad but the airline seemed to have a strange idea about route planning.

One of the Christmas Markets I visited this year was at Rothenburg o/d Tauber. It is one of the more structured markets, with a set weekly agenda, and we chose to go on a Wednesday for the Children’s Parade of Lights. I was afraid it might be over-run by frenzied tourists but was pleasantly surprised to find a warm family atmosphere instead.
